Vayu Stuti is one of the most famous stutis/hymns(poems) composed by Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya in praise of Sri Madhvacharya the founder of the Dvaita siddhanta(school of philosophy). Madhvacharya is the third incarnation of Lord Mukhyaprana, being the first incarnation or Vayu, who is the main deity and the Vayu Stuti has been written recognizing this order of incarnation.

The Vayu Stuti comprises 41 paras. It is usual practice to chant the Vayu Stuti by starting and ending it with the Narasimha Nakha Stuti, a short two-para composition by Sri Madhva in praise of Lord Narasimha. It is said that when Trivikrama Panditacharya presented his work, Sri Madhva insisted that the work should not be dedicated to his praise alone and instantly composed the Nakha Stuti and instructed that it be chanted before and after the Vayu Stuti.

The Story goes as below….

Raghavendra theertharu decided to enter the Brindavana in 1671 A.D.Friday and sent Appanacharya for Madhwa Sanchara away from Mantralaya. He asked Diwan Venkanna to make all the arrangements. Appanacharya somehow came to know the news and decided to go to Mantralaya. But the river Tungbhadra was flooded and overflowing. Appanacharya never worried about this. He loved Guru Ragavendra swamy so much and decided to cross Tungabadra river. As He knew Guru Ragavendra Swamy completely he started Guru stotra Sripurnabodha Guruteertha Payobdhipaara.  Tungabadra river paved the way, by the time Appanacharya reached Mantralaya the last stone of the Brindavana was placed at the Brindavana.

Appanacharya composed this Stotra Gurustotra on the day of Ragavendra Swamy brindavana pravesha. This is the unforgettable contribution of Bichchali Appanacharya to all Guru Ragavendra Swamy devotees of this Universe.
